My father-in-law said this happened once before and ...Since one and a half weeks ago my John Deere STX38 lawn tractor wouldn't crank any more. It's about 14 years old, had regular maintenance through our local small engine John Deere dealer, including this spring. The battery shows 12 volts. The engine won't turn over when I turn the ignition switch. The gas line shutoff is turned "on".Another good test to isolate the key switch/harness wiring from the battery/starter system is to jump the solenoid to engage the starter. Do this: 1) Disconnect small solenoid wire from the starter. 2) turn key to run position. 3) using a conductor, jump the starter motor battery terminal to the solenoid terminal.

Jan 8, 2023 · John Deere 345 won’t turn over. I’ve been having some issues with my 345 lately. It is not the plastic gear model. I have the FD611V engine. It turned over weakly several times and then stopped turning over at all. I’ve cleaned all the battery cables and the main ground. I removed the spark plugs and that didn’t help. Report to Moderator.
